| Drawing on support from the Oak Foundation, the Institute provides in-depth, long-term, training for scholars from Zimbabwe. This training program covers a broad spectrum of AIDS issues, including mother-to-infant intervention, vaccine development, treatment issues, and behavior modification. Each candidate also receives training in virology, epidemiology, immunology, clinical trial design, behavioral sciences, and various other public health policies pertinent to AIDS in resource-scarce countries. All participants develop their own AIDS research project under the direction of a faculty member so that they may return to Zimbabwe to promote and further AIDS research. |
