This in-depth module covers several key issues for HIV and AIDS care, such as Psycho-Social Issues, Ethics and Patient Rights, Gender Specific Issues, and Supportive Care and Palliative Care. Specific topics include HIV transmission and disease manifestation that are specific to women and to men, mother-to-child transmission, and psychosocial issues faced by people living with HIV or AIDS, their families and their caregivers. This module will discuss the principles and practice of supportive and palliative care including symptom palliation over the course of HIV infection and terminal care provision. In addition, this module will describe the challenges that domestic or family caregivers face in providing home-based care and provides resources in Botswana that can assist them.
