Botswana-Harvard AIDS Initiative Partnership

The Botswana–Harvard AIDS Initiative Partnership (BHP) is a collaborative research and training initiative between the Government of Botswana and HAI. Work at the BHP focuses on epidemiology, virology, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, clinical treatment, and social and behavioral issues relevant to the epidemic in Botswana and southern Africa.

Estimating the Lost Benefits of Antiretroviral Drug Use in South Africa
Pride Chigwedere’s paper in JAIDS is the first peer-reviewed quantitative analysis of lives lost in South Africa (estimated at 330,000) because of a failure of the South African government to accept the use of available ARVs to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS in a timely manner.
