Key Collaborations	Exceptional Programs	Groundbreaking Research
HAI partners with a wide range of government programs private corporations, and nongovernmental organizations, to develop research and educational initiatives that advance the understanding and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Training international scientists and health professionals helps produce a cadre of HIV/AIDS experts to facilitate and lead the development of healthcare strategies and interventions that will benefit individuals, families, and societies in resource-scarce areas. Learn about our KITSO AIDS Training Program in southern Africa.	HAI scientists have been at the forefront of AIDS research since the beginning of the epidemic. Current research focus on the HIV subtype most prominent in Africa, HIV-1C, and include HIV vaccines, antiretroviral treatment, and new interventions to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission.
